Cruise, nibble, and hear some stories!

Le Barge hosting the Historical Society of Sarasota County's History Cruise November 4 2012UPDATE: Almost 100 Historical Society supporters enjoyed a perfect November Sunday cruise.

The Historical Society of Sarasota County (HSOSC) is hosting its 21st Cruise and Tour of Sarasota Bay on the LeBarge tour boat on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 11 am to 1 p.m.  The cruise will be narrated with fascinating facts about Sarasota by popular local historian John McCarthy while guests enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast and a cash bar at noon.

You haven’t seen Sarasota by sea without this glimpse into how our city and county came to be. Cruise along the shoreline of the Bay and catch glimpses of modern-day Sarasota while listening to tales of our past.  Enjoy the sunshine and refreshments as John McCarthy paints an enthralling portrait of the formative years in Sarasota’s growth.

To reserve, call the Historical Society office at 941-364-9076 Monday – Friday from 10a.m. – 2 p.m. to charge, or send your check to the Historical Society of Sarasota County, PO Box 1632, Sarasota, FL 34230. The cruise is usually sold out, so act now to reserve your seats!
History cruise Guests should be at the LeBarge slip, south of Marina Jack in Sarasota’s Bayfront Park by 10:15 am, rain or shine on Sunday November 4.

This fundraiser benefits preservation projects and community outreach programs at the Historical Society of Sarasota County, curators of the oldest residence in the county, the Bidwell-Wood House built in 1882, and the 1901 Crocker Church. Both buildings can be visited Mondays through Fridays from 10 to 2, in Pioneer Park, just east of Tamiami Trail on 12th Street.

For more information, contact Linda Garcia at HSOSC  at 941-364-9076 Monday – Friday from 10a.m. – 2 p.m. or visit http://tinyurl.com/SarasotaCruise
